I take evenings, weekends and all school observed holidays off, as well as about 2 weeks vacation each year—all in effort to spend quality time with my family.
Have you ever struggled to find a provider you truly connected with? I think we have all been there… too often! It is incredibly difficult to be seen for a medical appointment if you don’t have trust with your provider, but this is a million times harder if you just don’t mesh well with your mental health provider! My job is to ensure that you feel comfortable with me as quickly as possible so that we can work together to discover the most successful ways in treating whatever may be troubling you and sustaining this over time.

Life can be hard to explore, particularly during life events that present uncertainties that accompany adulthood. Sometimes, it becomes hard to deal with these uncertainties as they appear when we don’t have the right tools to deal with them. If not properly taken care of, these uncertainties can impact one's overall well-being. I can help with both pharmacotherapy and non-pharmacotherapy approaches to help calm the waters, and together we can figure out how to deal with the difficulties life tosses at you.

When meeting with my clients my goal is to create a safe, compassionate, collaborative environment. I also want to develop a trusting and therapeutic relationship by completing a thorough psychiatric evaluation in a non-judgemental, caring place. I provide client centered care and treatment based on evidence based guidelines. I effectively manage client symptoms by initiating, adjusting, and monitoring medications. I think it's important to improve client's self-awareness and knowledge regarding mental health issues and psychiatric medications.

My ideal client is someone navigating complex mental health challenges who often feels misunderstood or overlooked by the traditional medical system. Whether they are managing ADHD, depression, anxiety, or the weight of past trauma, they are looking for more than just a quick fix—they want to uncover the root cause of their struggles. They need a provider who views them as a whole person, not just a list of symptoms. Ultimately, they want to reclaim their autonomy and find a sustainable path toward wellness through a non-judgmental, inclusive approach that respects their unique lived experience.

I work with individuals across the lifespan who are navigating mental health challenges and looking for thoughtful, compassionate care. Many of my clients come to me feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, or unsure of their next steps - whether they’re facing anxiety, depression, mood disorders, or other psychiatric concerns. FAQ - Family Therapy Psychiatrists
Do psychiatrists provide family therapy?
Some psychiatrists do provide family therapy as part of their practice, but it is less common than individual treatment. While all psychiatrists are trained in psychotherapy during their training, most focus their practice on individual medication management and one-on-one therapy. Family therapy is typically the specialty of licensed marriage and family therapists (LMFTs), licensed clinical social workers (LCSWs), and psychologists who have more dedicated training in family systems and group dynamics.

What is the difference between a psychiatrist and a family therapist?
A psychiatrist is a medical doctor (MD or DO) who can prescribe medication and provide medical evaluations for mental health conditions, while a family therapist focuses exclusively on therapeutic interventions without the ability to prescribe medication. Family therapists (often licensed as LMFTs or LCSWs) complete master's level training specifically in family systems theory, which examines how family members interact and influence each other's behavior and emotional well-being. Psychiatrists receive medical training that focuses more on the biological, rather than relational, aspects of mental illness.

Do I need an individual psychiatrist or a family psychiatrist?
What kind of mental health clinician is needed depends on the nature of the problem you are facing. Individual psychiatry is better when you have specific psychiatric symptoms (like panic attacks, mood swings, or psychotic symptoms) that require professional diagnosis and potentially medication. Family therapy provided by a psychiatrist, in contrast, may be a good fit when problems manifest in family relationships, such as parent-child conflicts, communication challenges, or adjusting to major family transitions like divorce or grief. In some cases, it may be appropriate to see both an individual and a family psychiatrist if there are individual and relationship-related concerns in a family simultaneously. For example, a teenager with depression might see a psychiatrist for medication and symptom monitoring while the entire family attends therapy together to improve communication and support the teen's recovery.
