I'm a board-certified adult and child psychiatrist specializing in the true integration of psychopharmacology with psychotherapy. I believe in active collaboration with patients to achieve treatment goals, while reducing the need for psychotropic medication when appropriate. I encourage patients, within an empathic and supportive environment, to gain a better understanding of themselves in order to facilitate positive change.

We specialize in finding the right medication(s) and we collaborate with our counseling specialists to help you to feel and function at your best. Our time is limited and we can't work with patients in counseling with other providers.

Angela Goodson is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in Michigan who has practicing since 2022. She has a Post Masters certification in Psychiatric Mental Health as a Nurse Practitioner. Angela's treatment philosophy is to build a partnership with each and every individual that is focused on developing a treatment plan together that aims to achieve remission of symptoms while improving quality and quantity of life. In her spare time, Angela enjoys running, biking, reading, and traveling.

Joel L. Young M.D. is medical director of the Rochester Center for Behavior Medicine (RCBM) and the Cofounder and Chief Medical Officer of MindMetrix. RCBM is staffed by over 80 mental health professionals with years of experience in the treatment of the ADHD, depression, anxiety, and other current mental health disorders. He has given hundreds of lectures locally and throughout the country regarding his areas of specialty. He has published textbook chapters and articles on many of these topics and contributed essays on mental health public policy and other psychiatric issues.

Psychiatry can be much more than merely the identification of a mental disorder and the prescription of psychotropic medications or other interventions to manage the symptoms of the condition. Over the past 40 years I’ve developed an understanding of the resulting functional difficulties that can arise when these conditions are present, tools to characterize them and strategies to treat or meliorate them. My goal and a mission of the Center and its staff is to identify and treat these conditions using a wide range of modalities and to improve a broad range of functioning from executive functioning to social skill functioning.

My practice is for psychotherapy only, I do not prescribe medication. I like to partner with clients to manage life's problems, build on their strengths, learn about themselves, and meet their life goals in a supportive, safe, non-judgmental, and respectful atmosphere. I am a former faculty member of the University of Michigan School of Nursing where I taught undergraduate and graduate level theory and clinical courses in psychiatric nursing. I have also taught graduate students at Michigan State University and practiced in a variety of settings.
