Anything that we as humans get exposed to in life can cause us to develop feelings and fantasies. At times when these feelings and fantasies are considered "unacceptable" due to fears, upbringing, culture, religion, norm or whatever else, such feelings and fantasies become unconscious. It means they exist and govern our lives but we are not conscious/aware of them. Such unconscious materials lead to psychiatric and physical manifestations including but not limited to anxiety, depression, physical ailments and many other presentations. I am trained to explore such unconscious feelings/fantasies in children, adolescents, and adults.
At times such symptoms can get so severe that they interfere with normal functioning in areas of work and interpersonal relationships. When this happens and therapy alone can't address the issues anymore, there is a need for medications. My practice is highly focused on psychotherapy based in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic approaches.
I prescribe medications when they are needed. Otherwise, therapy can take care of the matter.
