I’m only taking new clients Interested in long-term therapy. I have MD and PhD degrees from Duke University—when MD's were taught to treat with psychotherapy and medication, only when needed. I am a Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry at KU School of Medicine. I've published widely about depression and bipolar disorders, (e.g., “Bipolar”, C Raymond Lake, 2021, Academic Press). I conduct 50 min. weekly sessions face to face or on FaceTime. NO insurance accepted. No Medicare/Medicaid.
I take check or cash at time of visit ($500 for first visit; $300 for each following visit). I provide a receipt. My specialties are accurate diagnosis and treatment of bipolar, depression, and anxiety disorders, OCD, PTSD, and addiction disorders. My clients benefit from long-term individual and group psychotherapy.
I use a combination of CBT and insight-oriented therapy; meds only when needed. Primary goals include maintenance of a healthy stable mood, increased self-esteem and self-confidence, and elimination of addictive behaviors. It is in the client’s best interest when psychotherapy and medication are accomplished by a single professional.
