Dr. Ahlers completed her residency in psychiatry at the Georgetown University Hospital, a research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), medical school at Ross University, a master's degree in chemical engineering at the University of California at San Diego (UCSD), and a bachelor's degree in chemistry at Georgetown University. She has extensive training in: psychopharmacology, women's mental health, mood and anxiety disorders, and college-age mental health issues. She has experience treating adolescents and adults in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Psychiatric treatment is a collaborative effort. We will work together in a therapeutic alliance to implement a mutually satisfactory treatment plan. Psychiatry is an art and a science and medications are a tool to enable patients to become their natural selves, reach their optimal level of functioning, and realize their goals and dreams.
