Hello! My name is Carol Darr. I am a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. I specialize in psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis and medication management. I treat patients with many types of mental health issues including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder and ADHD. I take a holistic approach to providing mental health care using a biopsychosocial model which considers biological, social and psychological factors and their complex interactions in order to understand health, illness and the best way to deliver mental healthcare.
My approach to goal setting depends on the patient's issues and level of functioning. In my role, goals often regard medication compliance and tapering of controlled substances. I try to be clear and direct when expressing expectations and discussing goals.
Establishing rapport is necessary in order for patients to feel safe and comfortable with sharing personal vulnerabilities. I communicate in an empathetic and supportive manner in order to establish this rapport.
