I am a physician dually certified in general psychiatry and addiction medicine. I work in New York City, Washington, D.C., Maryland, Florida, California and Michigan. I specialize in psychopharmacology and talk therapy. I approach every patient as an individual with their own unique thoughts and feelings and work in a collaborative way to identify and achieve their individual goals. I am an internationally recognized expert in the treatment of anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and addictive disorders (including gambling). I evaluate and treat patients of all severities with an emphasis on difficult to treat cases.
I am an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine. I completed my psychiatry residency at Columbia University. I was a Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University Medical Center, where I taught medical students, psychiatry residents and junior faculty, until 2015 when I was recruited to work at the National Institutes of Health.
I have over 25 years of experience treating patients from around the world. I have appeared in major networks, and I am often cited in scientific publications. I continue to conduct research with colleagues from the National Institutes of Health and multiple universities in the US and Europe to improve the treatment of psychiatric disorders.
