I am a Harvard-trained psychiatrist for children, adolescents and adults and am the Clinical Director of Brooklyn Minds Concierge Mental Health and deep TMS Center. I have a special interest in working with adolescents and young adults as this a time of utmost importance in establishing independence, meaning and direction. My approach is to be collaborative and curious in working with individuals and families to craft individualized and comprehensive treatment approaches. This may involve managing medications, providing individual, family or group therapy or a combination of these options. I am comfortable working with individuals with complex psychiatric backgrounds.

I have expertise in working with individuals with emerging personality disorders. I also work with individuals with a history of significant trauma who have PTSD and dissociative disorders.I am comfortable addressing a wide variety of psychological concerns, including tensions that can come with typical child and adolescent development.

I am trained in evidence-based treatments for personality disorders in adolescents/adults including DBT and Mentalization-Based Therapy. MBT can be helpful for couples, families and even business partners. I am passionate about reducing stigma and increasing education around mental illness and do so through a variety of means.

Carlene Macmillan's Groups

Mentalization Based Treatment Young Adults Group

This group is appropriate for young people aged 19-30 who have a history of significant psychiatric illness that has contributed to interrupted school or work.It focuses on building interpersonal strengths and resiliency for young people who may feel they are alone in taking a less traditional path towards meeting academic and vocational goals. We use a type of psychodynamic therapy called Mentalization Based Treatment (MBT) to deepen connections and curiosity. We incorporate DBT skills as appropriate.
