I enjoy working in close collaboration with my patients to help them achieve their optimal wellness. Emphasizing psychoeducation, I prioritize that patients are actively involved in making well-informed decisions about their treatment plan. I believe that good therapeutic rapport, and frequent discussions to better understand the patient’s priorities and desires is an important step for setting the foundation to achieve any treatment goal. I enjoy working with the perinatal population and love helping my patients navigate the unique mental health challenges that occur during pregnancy and after the birth of a child.

I would rather teach a skill than prescribe a pill, but I will. In other words, if you or someone you know is on or in need of psychiatric medications, yet would prefer to explore other ways to address their current circumstances, my practice is a great fit. This may include those who have tried multiple medications in the past and have had less then optimal success, found that they are very sensitive to medication effects, or wish to explore alternatives such as; learning mind/emotion/stress management skills, herbal or supplement alternatives (orthomolecular medicine), and spiritual practices to support their healing process.

Shame and anxiety (hidden or tormentingly on the surface) are key discomforts in each person; however, everyone is miraculously unique. In my practice, we aim to pinpoint the help you need and offer the quickest and most lasting treatment appropriate. Sometimes that is intensive psychotherapy that can be short-term or go on for years if appropriate; sometimes it is a few sessions of a technique like EMDR that sort-of resets the brain after an emotional trauma. Often I recommend brainwave biofeedback (EEG neurofeedback). Always I'm seeking the most naturalistic treatment, with the least amount of medication practical.
