I enjoy doing both consultations and treatment. My immediate goal is to clarify diagnosis and treatment options to help people function better. I am happy to consult with your PCP or other provider and will help you find providers who take insurance if you need to do that. I like doing cognitive behavior therapy for phobias, ADHD and OCD, and can coach patients about how to find other effective psychotherapies. Medications have their limits, and distressing symptoms should always be addressed psychologically with or without medications. I work best with patients who will contact me by email and tell me what they are seeking.
Clarifying likely diagnosis and treatment choices can help patients efficiently seek treatment. I am very familiar with psychiatric resources in the Portland area if you want longer term treatment. I can also recommend educational and support resources. I can usually see people quickly because i do not carry a large caseload.
I think short term treatment can be effective and supports the patient’s autonomy. However I am happy to follow patients for a while if things are going well. I use confidential email a lot to keep in touch with patients, and expect patients to pay attention to communications and respond. I am not taking new Mainecare patients at this time
