Ann Arbor Psych's approach involves looking at root causes rather than purely symptoms. We look for nutritional deficits, metabolic abnormalities, subtle psychological trauma, genetic testing, sleep issues, brain injury, common but often missed medical causes of psychiatric difficulty.
Prior to psychiatry, I did work both in research as well as medical settings, and am uniquely able to look at underlying, often missed, subtle medical conditions. Our main priority initially is diagnosis, and also to look for nuances that don't fit diagnostic categories.
I avoid interrupting and am careful to listen deeply not just to the symptoms a patient is reporting, but what they actually want for themselves. We first strive to understand what you want and need, and then custom tailor the diagnostic and treatment plan to most effectively achieve your specific goals.
