I am licensed in Kansas and Missouri. I obtained board certification in psychiatry and internal medicine after completing residency at the University of Kansas Hospital. I pursued combined training to improve the stigma of psychiatry. Despite the prevalence of psychiatric disorders, they are often written off and not considered as serious as medical diagnoses. However, both from treating it regularly, as well as my personal battle with bipolar disorder, for example, I know it can be just as debilitating as any medical condition out there. My journey with mental health uniquely allows me to relate and empathize with patients.
Given my dual training, I treat provide both psychiatric and primary care services. I provide care to the whole patient, and thus neither is considered independently of the other. My patients are active members of their treatment team. I do not believe in dictating one's care but rather to collaborate to formulate a treatment plan together.
I understand it may be difficult to ask for help. It took me a while myself but I do not regret doing so. These last few years have been particularly tough on everyone. I assure you, I will listen intently and make you feel heard and validated. I consider it an honor and a privilege to care for patients. Thank you for the opportunity!
