Dr. Ashok Nagella is an ABPN Board Certified Psychiatrist that specializes in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry but does see clients up to age of 40. He has been in practice for 20 years in various settings from inpatient to outpatient psychiatry, has supervised and taught psychiatry residents and medical students, and has worked with a very diverse clientele from private practice settings to community mental health. Dr. Nagella grew up and attended school in the Chicago area. He attended the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee for his Doctor of Medicine degree then completed his Adult Psychiatry residency.
He believes strongly in a holistic approach which involves complementing traditional psychiatry with education about the healthiest lifestyle habits (nutrition, meditation, exercise, and sleep hygiene among other habits) to optimize health. He has seen that some of his clients reduce the number of medications needed when lifestyle habits and coping improve.
His hobbies include running, bicycling, reading, shooting baskets with his son, social justice advocacy and education, and spending time with his family. He is also a passionate environmentalist and animal lover. He is the father of twins who are 13 years old, has 2 dogs, and has been married to his beautiful wife for over 20 years.
