I provide comprehensive humanistic psychotherapy and psychopharmacology. I have a lot of experience and clinical know-how across many psychotherapeutic approaches. I am empathic and thoughtful and approachable. I am a Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Boston University, and a Lecturer at Tufts . I am skilled at short term therapy for symptom resolution, long term therapy for change and personal achievement. I believe empathy to be the most important factor in successful therapy. I have experience in psychodynamic, relational and self psychological psychotherapies, and attune my therapy to the individual, never the diagnosis.
The depth and breadth of my experience I think is unique. Treatment only begins after a very careful individual assessment and is based on the patients needs, not the therapists. Treatment options are carefully discussed with the patient at each step of the therapy. Sometimes movies/plays and art are used to help illumnate emotional issues/memories.
