I have long believed the human body inherently aspires to heal. Genetics plus factors in or out of our control can lead to bothersome or debilitating symptoms that get in the way of even simple goals. Humans also make unhealthy choices. Any combination of these can overwhelm our coping skills and lead to distress or even crisis.
