Just as the physical body seeks to heal itself when hurt, so the mind/soul with encouragement can heal.

In my role as PMHNP-BC, I am trained in the treatment of psychiatric illness of individuals across the lifespan (age 6-65), especially those with adjustment disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), eating disorders, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), psychotic disorders, bipolar disorders and trauma-related disorders. I have practiced with diverse populations across a variety of settings including: Consult-Liaison Psychiatry Service, Eating disorder, School-Based Psychiatry Program and Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatry Outpatient settings.

My practice centers around the concept of mind body connection. As a ARNP I have trained in both primary care and psychiatry and believe in an all-inclusive, as well as holistic approach to wellbeing. I treat most psychiatric disorders and provide both medication management and psychotherapy. I believe psychotherapy is an essential part of mental well-being. I have experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Interpersonal Neurobiology and Motivational interviewing.

He is a board-certified advanced psychiatric nurse practitioner with a specialty in addiction services. He provides mental health services for individuals with mental illness and those struggling with substance and alcohol abuse. Dr. Ampong focuses on the individual's unique needs through a biopsychosocial evaluation and cutting-edge psychopharmacology and psychotherapy.
