I am a general adult psychiatrist who values working collaboratively with patients to help meet their needs. This may include psychotherapy, medication management, or a combination of both. My style of psychotherapy is derived from principles of supportive therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy. I treat a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, OCD, psychosis, trauma, identity concerns, and relational issues. As a gay man, I also have a special interest in working with the LGBTQ+ population.
I did my undergraduate training at UC Davis in neurobiology, physiology, and behavior. After college, I spent a few years working as a mental health technician at a psychiatric hospital in Sacramento. I completed medical school at the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine and did my psychiatry residency training with Tulane University in New Orleans.
My experiences have taught me the value of empathy, shared decision-making, and treating the person as a whole. As a Bay Area native, training in the Deep South has helped broaden my experiences working with people of different walks of life. Understanding the cultural and racial dynamics of my patients has become an integral part of my practice.
