Early in my nursing career, I witnessed physical damage and emotional pain of uncontrolled diabetes in many of my patients. The first 40 years of my professional career focused on helping people with diabetes learn healthy adjustments to live well with this challenging disorder. I’m thankful for my mentors – endocrinologists and psychiatrists – who taught me more than textbooks & lectures ever could.
