As a Board Certified Adult and Child Psychiatrist, I enjoy working with both populations. I help adults understand that if they do not take care of their own mental health, they may have difficulty being the best for themselves and their children. We all know that our children are our greatest asset. Choosing a medication for your child is a complex and difficult decision. I understand the ambivalence associated with this delicate step for some. I have vast experience managing ADHD and behavioral problems in children along with Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder and OCD in the both the pediatric and adult populations.
Education about mental illness and discussing treatment options are important for adults, but especially critical in the pediatric population. Communication with therapists for you or your child, with the educators in school, and those in the community who interact with your child are all important aspects of treatment.
I have also been Board Certified in Pediatric medicine in the past which has served to enhance my practice of psychiatric medicine. Ultimately, I believe if you are able to help a child, you can help a family. If you can help educate and heal a family, you can change a generation.
