Please note that Sonder Psychiatric Services will officially launch on September 2, 2025. I'm Allison Barton, a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner located in Madison, WI. I prescribe psychiatric medications and provide therapy. I am trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), which is a therapy used to treat PTSD, anxiety, self esteem concerns, and panic. I have experience serving individuals with diverse psychiatric conditions including mood disorders, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, eating disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and substance use.

In regards to medication management, I attempt to reduce the number of medications a person takes by taking advantage of known medication side effects. My clinical vision is to ensure my office atmosphere is a safe place for clients and their families to experience their vulnerabilities while sharing their stories.

EMDR, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, is a structured therapy that encourages the patient to briefly focus on a negative memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (through eye movements, tapping, or vibrations).
