Dr. Batson is board-certified in psychiatry and dual-trained in internal medicine. Since recovering from her own chronic pain journey, she has specialized in the education, diagnosis, and treatment of Chronic Primary Pain and other Psychophysiologic Disorders. She works with each patient to determine the best course of treatment for them - medication management, lifestyle modification, psychotherapy, or a combination depending on each patient’s particular diagnosis and needs. She also refers patients to various print and online resources to help them better understand their conditions.
Born and raised in Nashville, TN, Dr. Batson earned her bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University. She graduated from The University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center College of Medicine and completed her residency training in Combined Internal Medicine and Psychiatry at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Dr. Batson specializes in the education, diagnosis, and treatment of Chronic Primary Pain and other Psychophysiologic Disorders. She has found that when patients understand how their minds, when under stress, can create real physical symptoms in the body and are guided in appropriate pain-specific therapy, they are often able to fully recover.
