Navigating the mental health system can be very difficult. I believe that building a trusting relationship with your provider can help you move forward and improve your quality of life. My education and very close experiences with mental health and addiction(s) in people close to me, have helped me understand better what you might be going through. Easier said than done but the more you try the more successful you will be.
After finishing medical school, I went through psychiatric training in New York and then completed a fellowship in addiction psychiatry at Yale University. I have been practicing 15 + years, hold board certifications in both general psychiatry and addiction psychiatry and have an active license to practice medicine in MN, WI and OH.
