Most of my clinical time is spent in assessing patients, making pharmacologic recommendations in the management of major psychiatric disorders, and providing follow-up medication management. Areas of interest include the management of affective disorders - major depressive disorder and bipolar disorder; anxiety disorders, PTSD and OCD; adult ADHD; the interface of major medical illness and psychiatric response; and a variety of adjustment disorders resulting from lifestyle issues. I also have experience in the management of substance use disorders, both alone and in combination with other psychiatric disorders.

I believe that, in many ways, the psychiatrist plays a pivotal role in providing patient care which complements that which he is receiving from other caregivers. He is the one who integrates information from a variety of sources; the one to whom the other caregivers turn to address the interface of emotional and medical issues.

I am quite comfortable providing medication management to patients who are receiving psychotherapy from a non-physician therapist (LCSW-C's, PhD's, et al.). I also maintain good working relationships with my non-psychiatric physician colleagues - for which my background in internal medicine has offered good preparation.
