Dmitry E. Primak, M.D. is Board Certified and a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, and has been practicing psychiatry since 1973 after graduation from Zaporozhye Medical University, Ukraine. Dr. Primak has completed psychiatry residency training at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA and Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY and has extensive experience in treatment of variety of conditions, such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, chemical addiction, and other psychological disorders.

I spent 12 years working with Andrew Weil MD's Integrative Medicine Program at the Univ of Arizona & Deepak Chopra/Chopra Center in Southern CA. My practice is entirely online. Though conventionally trained at Duke University, Univ of Michigan Med School, & Univ of Arizona Psychiatry Residency, I practice in a unique & integrative way.

I practice Integrative Psychiatry and Nutritional Medicine. I utilize amino acid therapy and trauma-based modalities. I gather information about every aspect of your life with the intention that you will feel safe sharing "anything." My goal is to provide an accepting, nonjudgmental environment in which you feel you are "not simply a diagnosis." I want you to feel heard and understood. I strive to establish Connection. Mental health is much more than the absence of mental challenges. It encompasses the physical, psychological, social, and emotional aspects of our being and is highly complex and unique to each individual. It is a privilege and a great responsibility when an individual chooses to allow me to participate in their journey. My experiences have taught me that collaboration and teamwork are necessary in any partnership, and working together to find a solution that is attainable and aligns with our goals is a priority.

I take pride in supporting clients in their journey to wellness and improved mental health. I firmly believe in holistic treatment, addressing the health of the mind, body and spirit. Through thoughtful use of medication, psychotherapy, and education, I aspire to design a treatment plan that fits each person’s lifestyle and personal beliefs.

We are going through a major mental health crisis. I specialize in depression, and anxiety, mood disorders, especially childhood trauma- the topic of my research at UPenn, eating disorders, autism,ADHD. I work well with schools, blended/ mixed families, and have a special interest in College Mental health, having worked at CAPS clinic at UPenn and the Depression Project at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. I have a collaborative approach to patient care where parents and the patient are partners in treatment with the doctor. My approach is - start low and go slow on meds. Any meds I will not give my own kids, I wouldn't yours!
