About
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. I work almost exclusively with adults overcoming struggles with anxiety and depression. People often experience depression and/or anxiety when they are dissatisfied with important relationships in their personal and professional lives. I have particular interest in helping clients develop skills to overcome shyness and social anxiety issues which can interfere with having the kind of relationships that give special meaning to one's life. I am also the co-founder of the National Social Anxiety Center.
In addition to the training I received to become a licensed psychotherapist, I have received advanced, specialized training from the Beck Institute for Cognitive Therapy and Research in Philadelphia. This training, under the direction of Dr. Aaron Beck, has added to my skills as a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist.
I work collaboratively with clients to establish specific therapuetic goals. CBT is an evidence-based, solution-focused psychotherapy. Together we work to solve your problems in a systematic and structured manner. Generally speaking, CBT tends to be a short-term therapy. At the beginning of treatment we establish a timeframe to work on your goals.
