Young widowhood can be lonely and isolating. Once-close relationships don't seem to 'fit' anymore and no one seems to really understand what you are going through. If you are 55 and under, you've lost your partner within the last 18 months, and you would like to connect--in person--with others who 'get it,' I hope you'll consider joining The Young Widows Grief Support Group. Up-to-date group details can be found on my website: www.drjillgross.com.

When we tend lovingly to our grief, transitions like death, separation, divorce, and mid-life challenges can actually be invitations to live more fully.
When the unwanted or unexpected happens, it is as if the whole world has imploded. If left untended, grief can show up in ways that don't serve us. We can lose ourselves in alcohol, sleep, work--anything to numb the pain. Some of us lash out or withdraw from the people and things that give our lives meaning (e.g., family, friends, community). It doesn't have to be this way! I specialize in helping people whose lives have been affected by illness or death, separation or divorce, and mid-life issues (parenting struggles, caring for aging parents, etc.).
This is a 4 week guided bereavement group. Support groups bring together people facing similar issues. It can be helpful just getting to talk with other people who are in the same situation. A group can help you cope better and feel less isolated and a valuable resource to help you cope. Going through grief with others to lean on often reduces the burden and isolation that comes with experiencing loss. These are travelers on the same road. Consider joining a support group for adult loss. Cost for 4 week group is 400$. Please inquire within regarding flexible payment plans.

My practice is dedicated to providing a thoughtful and supportive space for individuals, couples, and families to explore loss without the need to fix it or remove it.
Grief can leave you feeling isolated, misunderstood, confused and wondering if what we are experiencing is “normal.” You may believe you are supposed to move on, get over it, or hurry up the grieving process. And yet, what you are experiencing, physically, emotionally, and mentally can leave you with little clarity on how to go forward. Our work together is about helping you process the complexities of your grief, to give you coping skills that honor what you've lost.
This group is a healing space for all types of loss to share and process your grief. Facilitated by Virg Augoustatos, MA, LMHCA, the group will co-create communal and personal strategies for being with your grief. Drawing from the creative arts, drama therapy, ritual, and somatic practices, this group offers a unique alternative to healing that privileges authentic expression. The group is a 6-week commitment and is held on Tuesdays from 7-9pm in Seattle. The next group will begin in November. Total close of the six-week group is $450. Sliding scale available upon request.

Often this work involves sitting together and talking through your hopes, fears, losses, and dreams.
Have you experienced a recent loss? Does anxiety hold you back? Do you feel lost, lonely, or disconnected from the world around you? You may be desiring more confidence, ease, and connection in yourself and with others. Perhaps you seek more awareness of your patterns, needs, and desires in order to feel empowered to take action toward a life filled with purpose and meaning. I aim to help you develop harmony with your emotional self, build meaningful relationships, and find more freedom and fullness in life. I specialize in issues related to grief and loss, life transitions, gender, anxiety, and trauma.
Maybe your grief is so overwhelming you’re barely making it through the day without breaking down, or perhaps you feel like you’re in a daze, frozen while life around you goes back to normal. You may be struggling to find people who understand what you’re going through, or simply not have anyone to talk to about your loss. Perhaps you’re feeling disconnected and incredibly alone. Grief is the heaviest when we carry it alone, I'll come alongside you and help you carry your grief with more grace and self-compassion.
Are you struggling to cope with the death of a loved one, wondering how life will ever feel normal again? Grief shows up in many ways, and it looks different for everyone. But one thing is universal: grief changes us. Maybe you’re in survival mode: fighting just to stay above water in the day to day. Or perhaps you feel like you don’t recognize yourself: more anxious and angry, less motivated, or experiencing emotions that feel completely foreign. Your grief may be so overwhelming that you don’t even know what you feel.
This group is designed for men working through difficult times in their lives, with a particular focus on grief and loss. Together, we explore issues of grief and loss in the context of masculinity and what it means to be men, including messages received from culture, family, partners and peers. Group also provides many opportunities to help one another heal, connect, and celebrate successes.

Each day, the group will receive a writing prompt about the grief journey. The prompts are not intended to be a replacement for therapy, but instead, they are designed to invite group sharing about the experience of grief. Each group member can post their response in the group chat. If the prompt feels too overwhelming, and you need to pass, you are free to do so....no questions asked. Fellow group members are free to respond to an individual post of members. www.grievingwithwords.com

Experience tells me that grief and loss can feel like we are dropped into an unknown land.
I specialize in grief and loss, medical trauma, PTSD, anxiety and shame issues. I have over 25 years experience working in both the mental health field as well as hospice and palliative medicine. My work with clients is marked by calm, curiosity and compassion. I believe that grief is something that cannot be fixed, but it can be navigated and supported. I serve my clients by providing education, empathetic listening, and strategies for coping with grief. If there are elements of trauma within one's experience, I use Lifespan Integration. I also use Internal Family Systems as a way build more compassion and calm internally.
The caregiver support group is offered by Cancer Lifeline and open to young adults caring for someone with a cancer diagnosis. Join with others who understand the ups and the downs of caregiving to share ideas, resources and challenges. Through presentations and discussion get the support you need. My practice is committed to helping adults with anxiety/depression, grief/ loss, health concerns, and challenges within relationships.
No matter how together we appear on the outside, life can feel overwhelming and exhausting if we're hurting on the inside. Challenging circumstances can take us to the edge of our ability to cope, and major life transitions such as the illness/ loss of a loved one, trauma, beginning a new phase of life, or changes at home and/or work often leave us feeling full of fear and out of control. Therapy helps you adjust to your situation by teaching you new skills and gaining alternative perspectives.

You want things to change and aren’t sure how. You have an inner voice constantly telling you that you’ll never be enough. You have unrealistically high standards for yourself and beat yourself up for not meeting them, for not being perfect. You struggle making decisions because you worry about doing everything perfectly. You feel unworthy, an imposter always doubting yourself. We will pick that apart. We will push back on the guilt and shame cycles. We will work together to recognize your value and live authentically within the reality that creates.
A group therapy focused on healing from trauma and internalized oppression, comprised of 6 people. Therapist begins with sociometric, expressive art therapy, drama therapy warm ups to reveal connection between group members. Once the therapeutic container has been build, therapist provides psychoeducation on human development and psychodrama to support clients to identify their work. Clients use psychodrama and drama therapy to heal from past and current trauma. Group therapy provides social support and inspiration as participants witness and act in fellow members work. Participants must be able to self-regulate to participate in group. This is body centered approach.

I am an artist/poet turned therapist. I provide the right conditions for your brain to heal. My method is slowly building a therapeutic relationship, developing coping practices, fortifying strengths, and moving toward client-identified treatment goals. I support clients to externalize oppression and trauma through creative mediums and EMDR. When resourced, clients can move into the territory that scares them and get the goods, thus incorporating the parts of the self that had to go underground. Clients emerge from their work, whole and empowered.
Psychodrama is a trauma-informed, action-oriented therapy that uses creative play to help adults overcome trauma. Often described as "kindergarten for adults," it enables participants to experiment with new roles and behaviors in a supportive, non-judgmental environment. Group members act as healing agents, using personal strengths to foster a healing community. This therapy is experiential, allowing expression through visual and concrete methods like props or role-playing. Groups meet weekly for two hours, require a three-month commitment, and do not accept insurance. Individual pre-sessions ensure fit and therapeutic goals.

As a therapist I encourage people to step outside the box of what is familiar and risk meeting themselves in a new and authentic way. I enjoy working with those who love learning and are open to taking an active approach to changing life strategies that are no longer working. My role is to listen, witness, encourage, nurture, support, challenge, and invite you to participate in your own life adventure with creativity, spontaneity, and integrity. I take a collaborative approach to the issues and concerns presented and together work toward solutions and change. Taking charge of one's life story is empowering and worth the challenge.

Feeling lost and angry? Struggling with feeling triggered and weird things coming up? Feeling out of control and at the mercy of avoiding your triggers- or just avoiding most of life in general? Doing "that talk therapy thing" for years and seeing no results and kind of actually getting more triggered by talking about it? Still want to address your triggers and trauma? Clients that seek me out tend to be adult women of color of all ages struggling with change and identity, anxiety, social and financial worries, depression, symptoms of ADHD and autism. Results come from YOUR process, interpretation and YOUR power as a result of EMDR.

I work with people individually, and in relationships that struggle to effectively communicate their needs. Because of how they were brought up, or conditioned through experience, they might have vastly different ways of showing up in relationships, especially through conflict. We all want to work on what drives our behavior so that we can better understand ourselves and each other. This allows us to be vulnerable with one another and experience our real selves, so we can connect and love on a much deeper and more meaningful and satisfying level.
This group focuses on those in relationship with someone who has betrayed their trust. This is a non-denominational group: all are welcome. Group sessions assist partners and spouses to release obsessions and anxieties. Whether members choose to remain in or depart from current relationships, the group will support your autonomy and integrity as you heal from betrayal. Our goal is recovery of your peace of mind. Group topics include love addiction, prodependency, grief and loss, betrayal, trauma healing, boundaries, and self-care. Members receive clinical and peer group support to establish autonomy while learning to enjoy rewarding lives.

Grief Support Groups
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
