Mental health treatment can feel overwhelming. Are you feeling stuck in treatment or aren't sure where to start? A psychological evaluation can provide useful information to point you in the right direction. Are you or your child struggling with learning, or does something just feel "off"? Psychological assessments provide useful information for accurate diagnosis and evidence-based treatment recommendations to help you or your child thrive and flourish. I work with a variety of clients seeking help for a number of psychological concerns. I implement a strengths-based and therapeutic approach to each of our tailored evaluations.

I support my clients in creating a stronger web of support and developing a neurodivergent-affirming perspective and for this reason, I offer several small counseling and educational groups on adult ADHD and autism.
I specialize in supporting late-identified or diagnosed ADHDers and autistic adults and their families. Together, we process the overwhelm, frustration, and grief often coexisting with ADHD and autism as well as celebrate the creativity, intricacy, and nuances of brain wiring differences. We often apply self-compassion, self-acceptance, self-advocacy, and interdependence skills to reduce anxiety and depression symptoms. We strive to create a more manageable lifestyle, including regulating overwhelming emotions, accommodating executive functioning barriers and communication differences, and balancing structure and flexibility.

My practice currently focuses on people at any stage of the addiction cycle, PTSD, ADHD, Autism, anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, and anything that disrupts your daily functioning.
Most of us who struggle with addiction have a history of trauma. Finding a Trauma-Informed practice is important for recovery and a better quality of life. I use EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Emotional Parts Work, DBT and NLP to help my clients through treatment-resistant problems. Many of my clients have had previous treatment, so we work together to develop an individual plan to find success. It doesn't matter how long you have struggled, or what you have done. You can find healing and peace. You deserve it.

ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS! I appeal best with clients who have identified that some aspect of their life has stopped working for them, or never really worked at all. People who seek out a counselor to validate the fact that change is necessary, and desire professional help to collaborate in identifying their own natural strengths (or at least potential capabilities) towards overcoming difficulties and just need a personal team player. These people are exciting to work with, from individuals to couples. My hope is that my warm and inviting office atmosphere and my own experience and skills can motivate mental healing .

ADHD Support Groups

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
