I enjoy research based therapies and assessment in my work with kids, parents and adults. Every day we have a chance to make small changes towards understanding ourselves and our loved ones. I often have patients come to me for a second opinion, explaining that they feel they have been misdiagnosed or that simply “talking” to someone with less training was frustrating. I strive for an accurate understanding of my patients and their needs. I do not base diagnoses on viral TikToks or social trends. As a psychologist, I have made it my life's work to stay informed by research and to help people feel understood and challenged to grow.

From Wounds to Wisdom is a healing circle for expecting mothers ready to release emotional burdens and break cycles before they reach the next generation. Through mindfulness, gentle reflection, and nervous system grounding, you’ll explore the hidden wounds passed down through bloodlines — and rewrite the story for your child. I use a blend of cognitive-behavioral therapy ( CBT), trauma-focused therapy, mindfulness, and solution-focused techniques to help you heal.
You may be an expecting mother, desperate to break the chains of the past — determined that your child will not carry the same pain you did. You may be someone still haunted by childhood wounds, wondering if it’s even possible to break free from what’s been passed down through generations. Or perhaps you’re part of a couple navigating storms you never expected — looking for tools, not blame, to help you come through stronger, not broken. And to the single mother carrying the weight of the world: I see you. I see the sleepless nights, the silent tears, the fierce love that keeps you moving even when you’re running on empty.

Or perhaps past experiences have left you feeling disconnected from yourself and others, wondering if you’ll ever feel like yourself again.

The Mind Body Sleep (MBS) philosophy is to provide health-focused, integrative, evidence-based, and whole-person-centered psychotherapy services to improve overall physical and mental health well-being. MBS believes in a multidisciplinary and multi-modal approach that considers the complexities and hardships of life and the impact that these have on physical and mental health. We have a “whole-person, mind-body-centered” approach to foster self-efficacy, resilience, and life satisfaction across all domains of life. The MBS treatment philosophy includes a concentration on sleep health, which we believe has a butterfly effect on all other domains of life.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) Support Groups

How does cognitive behavioral therapy work?

Cognitive behavioral therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophizing or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy?

It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioral therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else?

To find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioral therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?

CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
