Through this course men are empowered to realize their creative potential to protect and serve the world from a place of embodied respect and courage. The desire for camaraderie and support is an aspect of all humanity. Some men may have just hit a rough patch in general, feeling down or facing multiple adversities. Others want to learn how to control and understand their emotions. The men's group at AUM Integral Wellness welcomes all men who want somewhere to go to feel fully accepted and encouraged to learn and engage in productive conversation around personal growth empowerment.

I help men and women release problematic patterns through guiding them to a deeper and authentic understanding of their life. Once a pattern is understood and released, I support them in stepping into their own personal power, which is needed to create new healthy patterns of living. With this renewed sense of self empowerment, new patterns are woven together from a place of self-understanding, self-love and self-authorship; a greater sense of wholeness, happiness, and true inner peace physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually emerges. Men meet to discover the meaning of the "Mature Masculine" We seek to understand and access the archetypes of mature masculine...King, Warrior, Magician and Lover. Our goal is to confront the core fears that men unconsciously carry and that cause them to seek their power outside themselves in work, relationship and addictions rather than within. Unresolved issues from our childhood cause us to seek in sex and work what is only available within. We intend to reconnect with the wisdom of our fathers and recover our ability to give our gifts in love.

I practice what I term Integral Personal Growth Work....integrating body, mind and spirit. I embrace the belief that each of carries within us the capacity for healing, growth and the recovery of our original birthright for wholeness. My work is intended to facilitate and cooperate with what is already "wanting to happen" with-in each of us. I seek to address early damage, emotional deficits and developmental traumas that can block our capacity for full aliveness leaving us consciously and unconsciously locked into coping patterns that often inhibit our becoming all we can be and celebrating the gifts that are our true essence.

This is an 8-week group for men to explore their life of recovery, while finding support, creativity, connection, and a safe place for vulnerability. We will talk while doing all the art things like painting, drawing, sculpting, etc. You don't have to be artsy or even good at art; you just have to be willing to be there.

My clients would describe me as compassionate, creative, and understanding. For therapy to work, it’s important the client truly feels heard trusts the process. I believe in empowering my clients through evidenced based approaches like Art Therapy, Attachment Theory, Somatic Experiencing, Person-Centered Therapy. My clients and I form genuine relationships and respect for each other, which yields really great results. I take a holistic, trauma informed approach in my work. I enjoy using the creative process alongside clients as they create fulfilling lives. I strongly believe that clients have the answers to their own healing.

When the world is spinning out of control, the last thing you want is to be vulnerable. It’s difficult to open up to others — especially when you’re being required to seek out help, or even considering change for personal motivation. Ask yourself what do you have to lose in coming to therapy? Then ask yourself what do you have to gain? Therapy is all about you at your pace.

Have racing thoughts and unable to shut off the negative emotions? It is an epidemic. It is passed down from parent to child. It doesn't have to be that way. We will look at causes, coping strategies and support for those who see themselves in hopeless situations. Groups are small so it makes for a more interactive experience. You are struggling with loneliness, insecurity, and building relationships. The desire to connect is there and because of anxiety about being too vulnerable with people, it's too risky; it feels like your safety and comfort is at stake. The cycle of wanting more connection, yet being uncomfortable with deeper connection takes its toll on you. Symptoms like depression, irritability, isolation, and low self-esteem can creep in and negatively affect your productivity, sleep, and physical health.

I believe therapy is about a therapist and clients collaborating together to address mental health issues and or deal with life problems. I believe the client (You) is the expert about themselves concerning strengths, weaknesses, and issues of concern. I believe it is my purpose as a therapist to build a therapeutic relationship which supports the development of your insights, and life skills; including the identification of strengths, and support systems that may aid in the reduction of negative symptoms and improve quality. I do tele-health and I am hoping to be in person by summer 2025 and joined by Mason my therapy dog.

Intimacy is often impeded by an inability to know your self or to see yourself accurately. Often we loose that sense of self in relationships which then promotes agitation and depression. We then take on addictive behaviors to avoid feeling reality. Difficulties in childhood often does not equip us with the skills of boundaries which is the only thing that helps to maintain a sense of who we are while remaining connected in a relationship. I can help you develop the skills of being relational and still be you.

Men's Issues Support Groups

Is therapy for men different than it is for women?

Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.

How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can men prepare for therapy?

Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.

What should men know about the process of therapy?

One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
