Things aren't working inside of you. You may have put together a fairly decent life but on the inside, you aren't enjoying it. You may be more and more uncomfortable in your body. You know the "right" things to do but they don't seem to get to the heart of the problem. You may even have tried therapy before without it truly helping. It may not have gone deep enough. You are probably experiencing early developmental trauma that was never properly addressed. Early developmental trauma patterns have a way of resurfacing in times of crisis and change.

I’m passionate about helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life’s challenges. With over 25 years of experience, I work alongside my clients to tackle relationship struggles, emotional hurdles, and major life transitions. My approach is grounded in psychodynamic theory, but I always tailor the process to fit you and your unique needs. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of empowering people to overcome tough times and create more fulfilliing ways to engage with life.

The members of my ongoing groups meet together weekly for an hour and a half to delve more deeply into understanding themselves. Because each member experiences the other members similarly to the ways they experience people from their outside lives, group provides a powerful format for present-moment emotional understanding about their internal experiences and relationship patterns. This heightened awareness then provides the opportunity for change, and the group meetings become a place to learn and practice new ways of being and relating.

Are you a new mom and feeling isolated, overwhelmed, anxious, or depressed? Do you find yourself feeling distant from friends who don't have kids or having a hard time finding new mom friends? With the constant demands of an infant and the rest of your energy often going to your partner or your job, your own mental health might be a forgotten priority in this time of life. Our hope is that this therapist-led support group offers new moms a much-needed space to feel heard, understood, and connected to other moms. Pre-mobile babies welcome!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my profile! I believe therapy is a deeply powerful tool that allows us to recognize and change ineffective patterns in our lives to become more connected, fulfilled versions of ourselves. Just as I expect my clients to take the risk of bringing their authentic selves into the room, I bring myself to our sessions too--in the form of humor, candor, and empathy. I see all kinds of people, but I especially enjoy working with moms of young kids, teens and adults struggling with disordered eating and body image, and NICU moms.

Being a caregiver can be challenging and rewarding. We'll explore how to care for yourself as a caregiver by taking steps to protect your health and well-being. Self care includes nutrition, physical activity, stress management and coping, dealing with fear of recurrence, and deep breathing/meditation. You'll learn to better understand what your loved one is going through while developing skills for coping and caring. You'll have opportunities to share the ups and downs of your journey with other people who are in similar situations. This can give you a greater sense of control and community.

You’re fucking exhausted. You're lonely and believe that you don't belong. This isn't where you thought you’d be at this age. You think you should've already figured out your relationships, your career, your family, etc. Maybe you are caregiving for a sick spouse, parent, or child. Isn’t there more to life? All you want to do is crawl into bed and pull the covers over your head. The mean voice inside keeps telling you that you aren’t good enough, that you don’t deserve to rest. “Take care of everyone else before taking care of yourself." “You have to be strong…All The Damn Time.“ You can’t say no because then they won’t like you."

I have offered somatic psychotherapy (touch and tablework) since 2007 for people who are working on trauma, their window of tolerance, and relationships / attachment issues. This work may also bring up family of origin issues that may also be unresolved. I combine somatic, IFS, and attachment modalities. My somatic training also provides expertise in helping those with chronic illness or pain and how this is related to mental health. Somatic work also is for those with after-effects of surgeries or accidents.

Treading water long enough can lead to exhaustion and the waves of life can often feel unsurmountable on your own. The loudness in our cultures and in our minds bring heavy burdens that can trap you and make you forget who you really are. It takes a great deal of courage to reach for something different. You have taken a huge step considering therapy. Choosing someone you can trust and feel the freedom to be authentic with, in order to explore some of the deepest parts of life, is important. I am passionate about helping you find this freedom and live authentically while embodying your truest nature, despite the waves that come.

Therapy provides the unique opportunity for you to adventure into and openly investigate your internal world. Emotional transformations can be akin to wading into the ocean or navigating a new trail in the forest. While these pursuits are exciting, they can also be intimidating, challenging, or frustrating at times. I view my role as your co-pilot; helping you to navigate what it is that brings you to therapy with the goal of unleashing your innate strengths and ability to overcome. I do so with a genuine curiosity and openness, integrating my training in mindfulness and Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy.

Lucy in the Peanuts cartoon once said, "to be happy you also have to be sad sometimes; then you're really happy." I agree! Life is about engagement with all of your feelings. How do you relate to your life? Are you finding challenges, aliveness, connection to self and others? Do you have a sense of meaning or is life just something to get through? Are you living or just existing? I strive to assist clients in being closer, more alive, connected, and vibrant, embracing the highs and the lows of life with more balance and acceptance.

Discovering the Wisdom Within: Cultivating consciousness and tuning into presence-- I integrate spirituality into psychotherapy. These two pathways to healing are intimately connected, both offering important and necessary tools for deep healing and awakening. Psychotherapy employs tested processes to understand personality traits, events that create disturbance in our lives, and patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving. Spirituality offers us the ability to encourage loving kindness with all that we are. It teaches us to nurture and develop the inner observer, present moment awareness, non-judgment, and heart-centered thinking. Cultivating intimacy with all that we are--light and dark, high and low, superficial and deep.

I work with individuals and couples who are struggling with their relationships or feeling stuck in their lives. I believe it takes courage to show up as our authentic selves, and in our work I encourage clients to stand in their truth and live in a way that feels fulfilling. I work with couples who are experiencing conflict, disconnection, or are recovering from betrayal. I help couples learn relational health by shedding light on dysfunctional patterns, improving communication of needs and feelings, and practicing co-regulation.

I work with both adults and adolescents to resolve short-term, situational problems as well as manage more severe or long-term issues. I specialize in relationship issues (whether familial, romantic, or platonic) and in working with people who have struggled to find success in therapy before. I frequently work with individuals whose anxiety or depression is holding them back or driving them to make decisions they want to change.
