I also specialize in a compassionate divorce recovery program that gently guides clients through vital steps towards healing.
I am deeply committed to helping individuals find healing, hope, and a sense of wholeness during challenging times. Many of my clients come to therapy seeking relief from anxiety or depression, as well as seeking solace from significant losses and emotional wounds. I have extensive experience working with adults and adolescents, addressing a wide range of concerns such as overcoming trauma and abuse, navigating through grief, resolving spiritual conflicts, managing life transitions, and coping with anxiety, depression, and stress. My approach is rooted in taking into account the unique needs and experiences of each individual.
This 9-week online program helps children cope with the often overwhelming feelings that accompany an impending or past divorce. The goals are to help children express their emotions in a positive way, and to develop coping skills that are needed in this time of change. Participation in a group can help children to not feel isolated, and they benefit from hearing the experiences of others. Groups are organized by age (from 13 to college age) so that they will work with an age-appropriate group of peers. Must be a current client of The Counseling Center of Texas in order to participate.

We work with families going through divorce and are in litigation.
I believe in meeting clients where they are at emotionally and helping them and their parents reach their goals. Through a positive relationship with my client I try to help them gain insight into their desire to belong and have significance. I continually work to create a supportive environment for children in order for the child to gain insight and understanding into their unique world. With insight the child and therapist can collaborate to reduce the child's current stressors possibly leading to problematic behaviors.

Are you struggling in your marriage/relationship? Does this sound familiar? Hi, my husband and I do not seem to be happy anymore. Over the years we have both made some bad mistakes and have hurt each other. Now, we hardly talk and when we do it becomes an argument, we say a lot of hurtful things to each other. In our last argument, things got really out of hand, and he left the house, slamming the door, and hasn't been back home since. I have been crying since last night. We love each other, but, after our last fight I just don’t know what to do or where to go from here. I really need some help.

Divorce Support Groups
How does therapy for people affected by a divorce work?
Individuals may feel a number of emotions following a divorce, such as shock, guilt, grief, anger, and fear. Therapists offer a non-judgmental space for individuals to talk about what they’ve experienced and process their emotions. Therapists will help clients develop coping strategies. They can also help a client rebuild their sense of self and self-worth and talk about what a happier future might look like.
What’s the most common type of therapy following a divorce?
There are several types of therapy that may be useful for divorce, including cognitive behavioral, acceptance and commitment, solution-focused brief, and mindfulness-based therapies. Many therapy types are talk-therapy based, which is typically the most popular option for individuals dealing with divorce. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a widely-used talk therapy, however, there’s no specific therapy type that’s designed to help people with divorce, and different types will work depending on the person.
When should an individual seek help due to a divorce?
When the feelings of a divorced individual, or an individual going through the process of divorce, begin to disrupt healthy daily functioning, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not performing at work due to problems with anxiety or motivation, if they’re no longer seeing friends due to feelings of shame, or if they’re not properly taking care of themselves as a result of depression, speaking to a professional could help.
How do you encourage someone to go to therapy due to a divorce?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the individual while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Sharing how the individual appears to be suffering, and what effects it has on them or on their children, should be done with compassion and empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
