Living with endometriosis and chronic pelvic pain can be isolating, exhausting, and frustrating—physically, emotionally, and socially. Many experience medical trauma from delayed diagnoses, clinician knowledge gaps, or repeated dismissal of symptoms. In this trauma-informed, somatic support group, you’ll gain education, peer support, and tools for coping with pain, navigating reproductive decisions, and grief. This is a closed, clinically led, online, process group. It is appropriate for individuals with diagnosed (or suspected) endometriosis or chronic pelvic pain, interested in a mind–body, somatic and relational approach to care.

These non-clinical virtual D&D-based support groups will combine a lightly-psychoeducational D&D game (for 1-2 hours) with a more traditional support group format (for 30-60 minutes), and are aimed at folks experiencing neurodivergent burnout, chronic illnesses and/or disabilities, or similar energy-management related issues. The focus of the groups will be on peer support, coping skills, sustainable self-care, and community-building. You don't need any D&D knowledge or experience to join; all rules will be taught, and written references will be provided. Math and accents optional!

Therapy for teens and adults struggling with anxiety, depression, and chronic illnesses. My own experiences with chronic illnesses and the physical and mental challenges they bring have greatly directed my therapeutic practices. I believe our thinking patterns and the way we interpret the world, influence our behaviors and keep us stuck! By adjusting these patterns we can begin to change behaviors and have a different outcome.

Chronic pain can leave us feeling all alone- we may begin to internalize we are somehow both ~ too much ~ and ~not enough~ at the same time. This group will provide compassionate space to grieve the ways chronic pain has deeply impacted you- whether that be bad doctor's office visits, losing relationships or just having to give up on how you thought life 'ought to be. It can be hard to love a body when you feel like you are in battle. Together, we will create space to both process challenges but also celebrate victories- even the small ones.

The Mind Body Sleep (MBS) philosophy is to provide health-focused, integrative, evidence-based, and whole-person-centered psychotherapy services to improve overall physical and mental health well-being. MBS believes in a multidisciplinary and multi-modal approach that considers the complexities and hardships of life and the impact that these have on physical and mental health. We have a “whole-person, mind-body-centered” approach to foster self-efficacy, resilience, and life satisfaction across all domains of life. The MBS treatment philosophy includes a concentration on sleep health, which we believe has a butterfly effect on all other domains of life.

Chronic Pain Support Groups
How does chronic pain therapy work?
Engaging with a psychotherapist to help treat chronic pain does not mean that one’s pain is all in their head. Therapy for chronic-pain patients has been shown to benefit both the mind and the body, targeting physical symptoms and increasing daily functioning. In other words, for many, addressing their emotional health through therapy affects their physical health. A therapist can help a client challenge unhelpful thoughts about pain and develop new ways to respond to it, such as distraction or calming breathing techniques. Studies have found that therapy can be as effective as surgery for certain cases of chronic pain and many doctors recommend trying psychotherapy in advance of considering invasive surgery.

What are the most effective treatment options for chronic pain?
Stress, anxiety, depression, catastrophizing, ruminating, lack of activity, and social withdrawal all make chronic pain worse. Addressing these issues, research shows, can help people gain control over their pain symptoms. Therapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, biofeedback, and mindfulness-based stress reduction, along with greater pain-management education, have been found to help people reduce fear and disability.

Are there new treatments for chronic pain?
Many cases of chronic pain, particularly those involving back pain, remain medically unexplained. But there is evidence that changes in the brain or nervous system are caused by previous physical ailments such as tissue damage; in such cases, the brain may continue to send out pain signals despite the physical cause having healed. To aid patients under these circumstances, a recently developed treatment known as pain reprocessing therapy (PRT) is designed to help the brain “unlearn” this response. A PRT practitioner helps individuals to reduce the “threat value” of their ongoing pain signals until they can reappraise them as less threatening and fear-inducing. They also help an individual to develop new emotional regulation skills.

How long does therapy for chronic pain take?
There is no set timeline for recovery from chronic pain, especially as there may be a range of physical and psychological causes for any individual’s discomfort, but most patients should expect to see a therapist for a number of weeks or months, typically spanning at least 12 sessions. Studies of pain reprocessing therapy found that many individuals’ experience of pain lessened in eight sessions over four weeks.
