I specialize in helping clients with ADHD, learning differences, or an autism spectrum disorder overcome current challenges and plan for success though talk therapy and personalized behavioral interventions.
Mental health is defined as the ability to love, and the ability to work; to be able to have stable and emotionally fulfilling relationships, to take care of your daily needs, and to be able to use your time creatively and productively. I offer person-centered counseling that focuses on helping clients understand their thoughts and feelings in order to change their behavior. I also specialize in Executive Function Coaching. Young people are often bright and capable, but overwhelmed by frustration, anxiety, or inattention. EFC teaches techniques to stay focused, plan ahead, get organized, make decisions, and follow through.

For moms who are neurodivergent themselves. This group's foundation is rooted in seeing yourself and your children through a neurodiversity-affirming lens. This means we focus on strengths, supports, accommodations and unlearning ableism. We do not try to "manage problem behaviors." We understand that most behavior is a form of communication and we believe that kids do well when they can. Topics are determined by group members and resources are shared through collaborative discussion.

The world can be a tough place for neurodivergent folks. ADHD, autism, chronic illness, trauma, disability and mental health struggles can sometimes make meeting your own basic, everyday needs feel exhausting. Keeping up with the responsibilities and demands of life might leave you feeling overwhelmed, stuck, ashamed, lonely or embarrassed. Other people don't seem to understand why it's so hard for you and sometimes neither do you! You have so many strengths, but it feels like they're buried under layers of self-doubt, frustration and burnout. You're not broken. Your needs are different. You deserve support. We SO get it.

A beautiful social group of differently wired adults geared toward Autistics, ADHDers and Developmental trauma. The group celebrates the lived experience of neurodiversity, giving a safe space without masks or hypervigilance. Bring your craft/hyperfocus/fidget and humor. The group served to bring community and connection. It is a place to vent frustrations with other humans who have experienced the distress of living in a world build for sameness and conformity. While the group is primarily late in life diagnosed professional AFAB folks, all are welcome. Call for more information regarding time and location.

Connection is hard. We are all striving to belong. Belong to ourselves, in our own skin and in relationships with others. For far too many, past hurts keeps us from what we most need- real human connection with another caring human. My office strives to be that place where people can be without judgment or shame. A place to learn real skills to help us feel nurtured and safe. A place to explore hurt in past relationships and how to create, maybe for the first time, the ability to care for and be cared for by others. A place that embodies growth and change with grace and compassion.

Assessment is critical to identifying intellectual strengths and weaknesses, as well as distinguishing common difficulties from learning disorders, serious behavior problems, adhd, autism, depression, anxiety and giftedness.
I love using CBT and neuropsychological assessment in my work with kids, parents and adults. There is no such thing as perfect, but there is such a thing as better. Every day we have a chance to make small changes towards understanding ourselves and our loved ones. I strive for progress and understanding, not perfection, so you will never feel judged here. I'm also a parent, so I can empathize. If you're looking for harmony in your family, a strong, healthy bond with your children or to understanding certain cognitive or psychological struggles, but you're not sure where to begin? Here and now is the best place to start.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
