Shortness of breath. Accelerated heart rate. Sweating, shaking, and dizziness. These can be symptoms of panic attacks: sudden rushes of intense fear that sometimes arise out-of-the-blue. And for 6 million Americans, panic attacks become a syndrome called panic disorder. This problem, however, is highly treatable: studies show CBT reduces panic attacks and improves related symptoms.
