For the past decade, my goal as a clinician has been to support others with marginalized identities in their journey of healing from trauma and navigating the challenges of daily life.
Recovering from trauma requires an individualized approach I believe therapy is a collaborative partnership. Cultural humility and valuing the lived experience and wisdom of my clients are central to my practice. I also provide clinical supervision for therapists working towards licensure and for those who are working towards PE therapy certification.

I have extensive training and experience in working with trauma survivors and those who suffer with anxiety or depression.
It takes courage to recognize and accept when we might need help. Finding the right therapist to help may be even more challenging. My therapeutic philosophy is based on the idea that each of us has the capacity for healing and growth within ourselves. Therapy should provide you with the space to be your true and authentic self, without judgment, allowing you the freedom to realize your capacity to create meaning in your life. We will work together to develop a relationship rooted in safety and trust so that you can make choices and changes at a pace that feels right for you.

Religious trauma, identity issues, self-esteem, and depression.
Life is often messy and chaotic. It can bring us any number of challenges. Grief, anxiety, depression, or loneliness. We may experience conflict in our relationships or a crisis with our self-esteem. Perhaps we lose our way or have yet to find a purpose. Our faith, our resiliency, and our tolerance all get tested along the way. I work with couples, individuals, and families, using an integrative approach that takes into consideration all the factors at play in our lives. The goal is to heal wounds, strengthen resiliency, help you foster better relationships, and gain some self-knowledge along the way.

In this transformative eight-week therapeutic series, we’ll dive into the underlying causes of codependency, examine your current relationship patterns, implement tools, and uncover strategies for fostering genuine, balanced connections.

Through trauma-informed, heart-centered therapy, I help you untangle the patterns keeping you disconnected, and guide you back to a grounded, peaceful relationship with yourself.
You’ve spent years chasing “enough”. Enough success, love, validation, hoping something outside you would finally make you feel whole. But you still feel disconnected from who you really are. You’re tired of running, tired of over-functioning, tired of feeling like peace is always just out of reach. You don’t want to just get through the day, you want to feel present, grounded, and good in your skin. You want to trust yourself again. Say no without guilt. Breathe without pressure. You’re not lost. You’re returning to yourself, and you don’t have to do it alone.

As a therapist who has worked primarily with trauma, childhood trauma, anxiety, and depression, I would love to meet you in that stuck place and help you navigate the way out, using EMDR and other attachment, values-based, and trauma-informed approaches.
Life is hard. I'd love to help. Whether your problems feel big or you're wondering if they are "big enough" for therapy, you'd be surprised by the benefit you can get from having someone meet you where you're at. For those who have experienced scary, or traumatizing events or relationships, it can be difficult to move forward. We often feel stuck in the anxiety, depression, and negative thoughts that result.

My other process group has been running for 5 years now, and fills up fast, so I am deciding to create a group specifically for queer folks struggling with body image and disordered eating. This group is for people to have a safe space to talk about how disordered eating intersects with queer identity, to get support from peers, to build stronger interpersonal relationships, and to find healing in community. This is a continuous group meeting virtually every other Monday. I'd love to have at least 4-5 people in the group to get started.

I specialize in helping people heal from trauma, address disordered eating, explore their sexuality, and build self-esteem.
My ideal client is someone who feels like they're carrying the weight of unresolved pain but struggles to put it into words. Maybe they've spent years putting others first, unsure how to prioritize themselves without guilt. They might be wrestling with feelings of inadequacy, perfectionism, or shame—whether about their body, their past, or their identity. They want a space where they can finally untangle these feelings, uncover their true self, and let go of the pressure to be "perfect."

Or, you're doing "it all right,” but still feel empty and numb with relationships that are lacking? If any of these resonated with you, you're not alone. Living with the aftermath of combat requires certain skills and training, just as skills and training were required for the veteran to go to war in the first place. Spouses, partners, parents, and siblings need training in flexibility and creative problem solving. This group provides the opportunity to share the burden of difficult issues, develop extraordinary relationship skills, solve problems with creativity and good humor, and build flexibility and resilience.

I work with problems related to trauma, addictions, anxiety, depression, anger, and persistent problems in relating to others.
Here are two things I think are important about therapy: 1) People can find relief for symptoms like worry, loneliness, sadness, hopelessness, and craving; and 2) People can build psychological strength. Psychological strength allows people to have more fulfilling relationships, use their capacities more effectively, and bring more flexibility and creativity to problems in living.

I have extensive training in gender-affirming support, dialectical behavior therapy and working with folks who have experienced trauma.
Therapy is the fight for autonomy over our decisions and our strengths-based connections in the aftermath. The universal social work tradition is to build practice based on reciprocity, continuity of care, consent, and affirmation. Therapists build supportive networks through community-based knowledge, interrelationships and love. We labor for access to self determination over our own identities and communities at large. We take a holistic view of the self through a social context, and work to create open and dynamic spaces and roles for ourselves and each other. This must include confronting stigma, isolation and disconnection.

I feel that every client, along with their family or loved ones, processes and copes with adversity, trauma, and mental health issues differently.
I am very human. I am not the type of therapist that utilizes manualized treatment from the gate. I am the type of therapist who will see you, hear you, and help you in all of your humanity - the good, the bad, and the indifferent. My primary goal is to help you feel safe, secure, and loved in a space where we can do therapeutic work with one another.

We tend to think of change and acceptance as opposing truths, as if accepting our situation means doing nothing about it. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a therapeutic approach that seeks to transcend this all-or-nothing way of thinking. It teaches us to radically accept our situation as it is, while still working to improve the things within our control. Instead of seeing change and acceptance as opposing truths, DBT allows us to see them as truths that reinforce each other. In other words: embracing acceptance can lead to change, and embracing change can lead to acceptance.

Trauma and PTSD Support Groups

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
