Adolescence is a tough period in a child's life as it's marked by persistent sadness, discouragement, loss of self-worth, and interest in usual activities. Depression can be a transient response to many situations and stresses. In adolescence, depressed mood is common element of the normal maturation process, the stress associated with it, the influence of hormones, and independence conflicts with parents.
