Teen Support Groups in New York, NY

Our DBT Teen offering is a structured, skills-based DBT program designed to support adolescents and their caregivers in building effective tools for emotion regulation, communication, and managing distress. Each week, teens attend a DBT skills group alongside their caregiver, meet individually with a DBT therapist, and participate in a DBT based family session to strengthen skill use at home. The program emphasizes collaboration with existing outpatient providers and is ideal for teens needing more support than traditional therapy alone. While enrolled, both teens and caregivers have access to DBT phone coaching for reinforcement of skills in real life situations.

Evoke Psychology's Multi-Family DBT Skills Group for Adolescents is a supportive, skills-based group where teens and their caregivers learn DBT skills together. The group focuses on practical tools to help manage big emotions, handle stress, improve communication, and navigate relationships more effectively. By learning the same skills side by side, families build a shared language and a better understanding of one another. The goal is not perfection, but progress—helping teens feel more capable and helping families feel more connected, supported, and confident in getting through tough moments together.

Student athletes (and former student-athletes/recent college graduates) face unique challenges that are sometimes difficult to talk about. This is a forum for discussing these challenges and healthy coping mechanisms so that you can continue to love your sport, and yourself. As a former Division I athlete, I get it--I'll serve as the group mediator and encourage insightful, honest discussion of real issues.

Our two social skills group are for Younger Kids and Teenagers who are struggling at school, with peers, and at home. Children in our group try to make and keep friends; however, their negative thinking and low self esteem may get in the way. Social skills deficits do not improve over time on their own and are a risk factor in adulthood. We help children make friends through practice and feedback in the group situation. Having a large practice, we can create groups that will help each child derive maximum benefit.

The Middle and High School years are marked by emotional instability, turbulent friendships and a constantly shifting sense of self. All this change can be a lot to manage. Group therapy offers teenagers a safe and supportive place to better understand the multiple changes they are going through, and get the support they need to stay focused and successful.

Gifted students with LD/ADHD have unique learning and emotional profiles. Neuropsychological reports and school college advisors sometimes miss the "highs" and the"lows" parents and students themselves vividly see from their vantage points. There are strategies and tools that high school students can develop to set them up for success, reduced stress, and confidence in college. We will meet to discuss strategies for using high school to develop strategies for success and to drive the college admissions process given their many strengths and the goals critical for his success and emotional wellness as he gets set to launch.
