DBT stands for Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. DBT is a structured treatment approach that uses 4 main components which are distress tolerance, mindfulness, emotion regulation and interpersonal effectiveness. DBT is rooted in finding the balance between acceptance and change. We can accept and validate our feelings with the goal of changing how we react, process, and behave. Each week, the group will speak about one of the four components and learn skills on how to use these techniques in their day to day life. Light homework will also be assigned to practice learned skills between sessions.

Depression, anxiety and problems in relationships often cause deep anguish and pain - just getting by each day is tough. We often struggle alone believing things will never get better. Friends and family urge us to just get over it, but sometimes that makes it feel worse. You need someone to talk to. In the safety and privacy of our offices, you will have your therapist's unwavering attention, devoted to helping you untangle the mess that exists in your life. Together, we will help you change what you thought was unchangeable but also accept what you thought was unacceptable.

Do they fight with you, struggle with peer relationships, have poor grades and constant anxiety and sadness?
EMDR is a powerful somatic technique that allows you to process and heal long held traumas in much shorter period of time than talk therapy. In addition to treating trauma, EMDR can improve a broad range of symptoms including phobias, panic attacks, relationship issues, complicated grief, chronic pain, anxiety and depression so you can find peace and calm.

The purpose of the group is for clients with generalized anxiety or other anxiety disorders to come together, process and support one another in their journeys. While this group will not follow a rigid curriculum, it will be organized around rotating sets of topics, accompanied by light group activities and education about various coping skills. But the main goal is for participants to learn from one another, to not be alone, and to see how others make it through each day.

I understand that powerful life events and subtle life experiences shape the direction of life. Therapy offers an avenue to understand what is happening and provides an experience that can empower you to make choices about your life. Especially, when we are left with feelings of frustration, hurt, doubt, worry, sadness, self-blame, or loneliness. In other words, we become “unhappy.”

By attending our virtual stepping stone group, you will get to meet the people that hopefully will also join the in-person group when a spot opens up. Having been a therapist since 2004, I have worked with a range of clients, such as co-dependency, anger, OCD, phobias, panic disorders, and PTSD & trauma with individuals, couples, and families, and I have learned that every client is vastly different. One thing that is the same is that the goal for the client is always moving towards living the kind of life they want. That looks different for everyone because we all have our own values. But the stronger our values, the harder it can be to accept ourselves and others. I help clients find that balance for themselves!
