Choosing a recovery path is very individual and what may work for one person may not work for another. What I am interested in is what works for you and supporting you with the goals you want to achieve. I provide a confidential and caring environment giving you the opportunity to be in a neutral space and explore what's important to you. I offer alcohol/drug counseling for those wanting support in their recovery, struggling with addiction and for their loved ones, mutual aid support groups, parenting education groups and relationship coaching. Please feel free to read more about what I offer & my qualifications section below.
Balancing Acts is an Action Group of 6-8 people who help one another to explore and resolve their dilemmas. We use role-play, humor, tears, interpersonal warmth, compassion and acceptance in mutual support. You'll get clearer about your most elemental needs, accept what can’t be changed, and take action on what you can.
We are wounded in relationships. Anxiety, depression, anger, shame, relationship difficulties, unhealthy behaviors of every kind: most often, the sources of our challenges lie in things that went wrong in relationships: Things happened that shouldn’t have happened - and/or things didn’t happen that needed to.

"The individual is like a garden to be tended, not a machine to be repaired". I practice Motivational Interviewing; this is a collaborative conversation to strengthen a person's own motivation for change. I hold a few principles that govern the work. First, I will focus on you being heard and believed, Second, be kind. Third, teach and demonstrate empathy and compassion and be helpful with your internal conflict... I practice being in the here and now with individual, couple and group work.

"Empathy for Dudes" is an Action Group designed to help men develop better relationship skills, and expand their understanding of their own and others' emotions. Increased emotional intelligence will help you in business, romance, friendship, parenting, and being a good member of your community. Note the title means both "Empathy, for dudes" and "Empathy FOR dudes." The group aims to help men to become more empathic, but it's also about ensuring that men receive understanding. Not only because everyone deserves it, but because you need to experience what it feels like to receive empathy in order to fully understand what it's all about.

The Art of Loving is a group for couples all about how to communicate with one another with more integrity and love. How do we speak up for what we want? How do we say no when we need to? Disagreements are a fact of life, as are conflicting needs. But even within conflicts and disagreements, we can learn to speak our truth without harshness, and to hear each other with more compassion and understanding. The group format allows for a great variety of situations to explore and master. Sliding scale of $50-100 per couple, per meeting.
