We identify the problem(s) and the steps to change along with a timeline for these steps. Clients become active agents in their own recoveries.

Drawing from CBT, DBT, and ACT, we'll work together to build practical tools, cultivate resilience, and create the lasting change you're seeking.
Life often places heavy demands on us, and our past experiences can make it even more challenging to manage. Thoughts and feelings can become overwhelming—making it hard to breathe, find motivation, or cope with past wounds, present stressors, or future uncertainties. They can keep you up at night or keep you stuck in a cycle that feels impossible to break. It’s not easy, but you’ve already taken the most important step, and it would be my privilege to help you navigate the next. We’ll start by developing concrete strategies to manage your current symptoms, then gradually explore the underlying causes of these thoughts and feelings.
This in-person group is designed for adults who struggle with emotional over-control, a pattern often linked to social isolation, difficulty connecting with others, and conditions like chronic depression, anxiety, eating disorders, vulnerable narcissism, and obsessive-compulsive personality disorder. RO DBT helps you learn to be more open, flexible, and socially connected to improve your relationships and emotional well-being. This group may be for you if you notice traits like this getting in your way… perfectionism, excessive self-control, preference for order, structure , rule follower and reserved, restrained.

Supporting a young person with emotion dysregulation through adolescence and young adulthood presents unique challenges. In an effort to avoid crises, caregivers may find they are "walking on eggshells"; and experience strong feelings of frustration, anxiety, and helplessness. They may struggle to balance supporting independence while providing adequate support. This class teaches Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills to provide caregivers a framework for understanding their child's behavior; tools for identifying and regulating their own emotions; and strategies for providing effective contingencies and incentives to support behavioral change. This 16-week course may be taken alone or with full DBT treatment.

While I specialize in Dialectical Behavior Therapy for children and adolescents (including parent/caregiver coaching and family therapy) and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), I believe in tailoring therapy to meet each individual’s needs and values.
I am also a Level 1 Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist, and work 1:1 with adults wanting to improve their own well-being.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Support Groups
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.
Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.
What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.
How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
