Worried about your child? Seeking help is the first courageous step as a caregiver! Assisting youth in navigating issues and witnessing them find their voice and unique gifts is the most rewarding part of my career. Anxiety, aggression, sadness, negative self views, unhealthy relationships, and living in a complex world are all experiences that can hinder your child from being their best self. I have worked with youth for over 23 years and remain amazed at their wonder and resiliency. I strive to create a safe and caring environment where your child can express themselves freely - allowing them to feel heard, valued, and understood.

A 3-hour introductory Child- Parent Relationship Training (CPRT) workshop for parents of children from 3 years old to 8 years old. The workshop is attended by parents only, and helps to strengthen the relationship between a parent and child using therapeutic play sessions. Parents learn how to: Respond empathically, Build self-esteem, Help develop self-control, & Set therapeutic limits. Play is important to children because it is the natural way they communicate: toys are like words, and play is their language. By changing how children feel about themselves, parents see a significant difference in the child’s behavior.

Sometimes we just need a band-aid to get us through a rough patch, and other times a deeper dive into long-standing patterns and struggles is the right focus - both are valid approaches! Choosing the right therapist is an important step, so let's chat about questions you might have and make sure you get the right fit. I work with individuals, couples, and children, and from time to time I also offer group workshops. I have specialized training in EMDR, Play Therapy, and have over a decade of clinical experience. I am currently an LPC Board-approved clinical supervisor as well as an adjunct professor in Loyola's Counseling program.

THERAPY is H A R D. How do I know? Because I’ve been there—lost, confused, and not sure of where to start. I needed someone who could truly understand me—someone who looked like me, understood my background, and could help guide me from struggle to strength. Years later, I became that person for others.
I’m here to relate, embrace, guide, and support you through every moment—both the challenges and the triumphs. Through therapy, we'll celebrate your growth and achievements, and hold you accountable when you drift from your values and goals. Because real change happens when you have the right support in your corner.

What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.
When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.
How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
