We will utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques to explore how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are related.
Some days, it feels like there is a never-ending storm cloud hanging over you. No matter how hard you try, you can’t shake overwhelming emotions. One moment, you’re on top of the world, and the next you’re plunged into deep despair without any reason. It’s exhausting to feel like something terrible is always about to happen. Even the smallest setback triggers a cascade of negative thoughts that feel inescapable. The voices in your head are constant and upsetting. You feel helpless, exhausted, and misunderstood—even by your family and loved ones.

Since 1998 my cognitive-behavioral therapy approach has benefited a variety of client issues such as depression, anxiety, substance disorders, anger disorders, and couples work.
Are you or do you know someone who is suffering from problems such as depression, anxiety, anger or addiction? Many of us at times find ourselves or our loved ones trapped and having difficulty finding a way out of the problems life brings. Through the suffering and the pain we are tempted to give up in despair, unable to see a way through the confusion and hopelessness. As a Christian counselor I seek to minister to the mental, emotional and spiritual needs of the individual, couple or families who may be struggling with various problems.

The level we grieve shows the depth of the loss. At times, we get stuck in part of the grief cycle, or we may feel completely alone and believe that no one understands. We start to feel that our grief may be a burden on others and/or friends/family members don't want to hear about our loss anymore. In this group we will come together to process the stages of grief utilizing mindfulness and other techniques that allows healing to begin. You are not alone. Group facilitator : Heike Seeholzer BS, BA- Certification in EMDR in progress

Break-ups can be one of the most difficult transitions you will ever face. Joining an online break-up support group is about becoming part of a community so you don't feel so alone and isolated. This group will support you while you discuss and process the emotions and changes around this transition. Ideally, the group is full of individuals who are willing to give and receive support by honestly and respectfully relating their experiences, questions, and insights. The group can provide you with safety, camaraderie, resources, convenience, and experience you'll likely need to navigate the transition from booed up to single.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) Support Groups

How does cognitive behavioral therapy work?

Cognitive behavioral therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophizing or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy?

It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioral therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else?

To find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioral therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?

CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
