This group is a safe space for young adults 18+ who have lived through trauma. Here, we explore the deep beliefs we’ve developed about ourselves, others, and the world because of what we’ve been through. These beliefs can shape how you feel, how you react, and how you see yourself and others. We’ll gently uncover these beliefs, and begin to shift them toward truth, safety, and self-worth for lasting change. There’s no pressure to share more than you’re ready for. Healing happens in your own time. This is a space for honesty, connection, and growth.

The level we grieve shows the depth of the loss. At times, we get stuck in part of the grief cycle, or we may feel completely alone and believe that no one understands. We start to feel that our grief may be a burden on others and/or friends/family members don't want to hear about our loss anymore. In this group we will come together to process the stages of grief utilizing mindfulness and other techniques that allows healing to begin. You are not alone. Group facilitator : Heike Seeholzer BS, BA- Certification in EMDR in progress

We often overlook that kids need physical, emotional, and spiritual wellness, too! Kids struggle with social trauma from the remnants of parents stress or parents not being able to be present with kids. They are also struggling with the aftermath of COVID, social media madness and now the return of going back to school. Kids deserve to work through trauma that is stored in their body (often shows up as ADHD and anxiety) and address how to manage their emotions and behaviors related to how they handle and interact with others. It time of us to prioritize children’s wellness.

The anger management program is specifically designed for people who realize they have a problem with controlling their emotions and impulses, their reactions to feelings of anger, and find it difficult to respond to challenging situations of any nature in a non-harmful way. Typically, fear or sadness (primary emotions) can be found underneath the anger. Fear includes feelings like anxiety and worry, and sadness comes from the experience of loss, disappointment, or discouragement. The program is offered in English and Spanish weeknights and weekends, individually for one hour or in a group for one and a half hours.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) Support Groups
How does cognitive behavioral therapy work?
Cognitive behavioral therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophizing or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy?
It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioral therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else?
To find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioral therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?
CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
