Andrea de Ott created a style of psychotherapy based on Flamenco dance techniques. Flamenco is an ancient style of dance that integrates percussion, hand movements (braceo), and feet stamping to produce a musical rhythm (compas). The main objective of flamenco psychotherapy is to increase body awareness through breath and movement. While the person is attuned to his/her body through breath and movement ( dissociation decreases) while marking steps to produce sounds ( obsessive thoughts decrease), and when the right and left side of the body are connected ( neuroplasticity and brain memory are activated.
