Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy


Mindfulness"" is paying attention in a particular way: "On purpose, in the present moment and non-judgmentally." I trained through the University of Toronto Medical School with Zindal Siegel in Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, an outgrowth of Jon Kabat-Zinn's Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. The class in MBCT is once a week for eight weeks and one full Saturday. Research has strongly suggested that MBCT helps build our capacity for coping with a wide variety of negative emotions and life events. I have had a personal mindful practice for fifty years, and, we're all beginners! The guideword is, "As best you can."
