DBTherapy/ Skills Training
I run a Dialectical Behavioral Therapy/ coping skills training group.If you find that you suffer from chronic feelings of emptiness, fear of abandonment, unstable and intense interpersonal relationships, unstable self-image, intense anger or lack of control with anger, suicidal thoughts or self-harming behaviors. DBT may be for you. DBT therapy teaches four critically important skills that can help reduce emotional pain and keep you in balance when these emotions overwhelm you. Mindfullness, emotional regulation, Distress Tolerance and Interpersonal effectiveness are skills taught. Members are asked to utilize the skills in their personal lives.

Substance Abuse/Dual Diagnosis
I run a dually diagnosed substance abuse group that works on helping members identify the triggers that lead them to abuse alcohol/drugs. In most settings, substance abuse is worked on independantly without focus on understanding how emotional triggers plays a roles in their abuse. What are you trying to run away from? how does that drug of choice help alleviate the pain? What are the alternatives to using? The group works on helping its members gain insight into themselves. Awareness, understanding, support are factors that help in people's recovery.
