The group gives people a chance to explore interactions with others in a group. With the help of the therapist, individuals can explore a dynamic living in the moment. In group therapy it can be very important to be in a "here and now" process. I think of the here and now as the ability for a person to express their immediate thoughts without filtering or suppressing them. Group can be a place where people can rebuild relationships and grow closer by understanding intimacy. People can heal from pains, struggles, or past relationships with the help of new relationships.

Starts Sept 2024! On the outside, people see you as successful. But on the inside, you hold yourself to impossible standards where nothing feels like enough. If feelings of self doubt, overwhelm and hidden shame are always lurking beneath the surface, then it’s time to do the inner work that will fuel your personal evolution. Many women stretch themselves thin to the point that it compromises their physical health or emotional wellbeing. (Headaches, anxiety, insomnia anyone?) Instead of a breakdown, why not go for a breakthrough? Build strategies & tools that work to build focus, joy and confidence.

Starting October 5th and 8th, 2020. This group is a deep dive into practicing listening to intuition. In DBT this is “wise mind”. Wise mind is distinct from “emotion mind” and “rational mind”. Wise mind is the thread to your soul’s purpose. In depth psychology, intuition is understood as messages from the Self-- the guiding aspect of psyche. Often the Self emerges in dreams, gut feelings, synchronicity, or a knowing that cannot be explained. The Self is considered the road to fulfilling our life purpose. ONLINE 2 times available-- Monday and Thursdays.

This group is an exciting opportunity for teens and adults to use roleplaying games as a way to address their mental health concerns. The therapist serves as a Game Master and facilitates a story which the clients/players help tell. The clients take on the role of a character in the game world, and the group works together to communicate, solve problems, and support each other. Due to the game's creative nature, the range of client issues which can be addressed is quite considerable. Groups are separated by age [typically, Teen (13-18), and Adult (19-30)/(30+)].

Let's do Midlife Well! This support group is appropriate for all "middle agers" (loosely 35-65yo) who are experiencing the challenges of this active, emotional, at times tumultuous period of life. Middle adulthood is a time when we question our choices, re-evaluate relationships and may start to lose connection, drive and purpose. What's it all for? What's the point? What am I doing with my life? How do I want to live now? Group members will stay together for 8 weeks to build in support, community and connection.

Anxiety Support Groups

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
