we dive into one Kosha each month, focusing on and experiencing it through guided visualizations. The physical body that most consider to be the self is only the most dense layer. Subtler than that is the energy or pranic layer. Then comes the emotional-mental layer also seen by some as colors corresponding to different feelings. The intellectual/intuitive or the wisdom layer is next, subtler and more expansive than the prior three and encompassing them too. Finally the bliss layer is the subtlest of them all and it encompasses all the other layers and extends over and beyond them.

Spiritual bypass refers to people who use spiritual ideas and practices to avoid doing the hard psychological work necessary to build an integrated, authentic self. This explains why so many people struggle with religion that over-emphasizes dogma at the expense of psychological health. Yet we need community. Isolated individuals are fragile and struggle to create big change. We must find common ground and purpose with like-minded integrated people. Our group will be a place where "two or three will gather" to support each other in our brokenness and discern our call to live out our journey of faith.

This group of 3-8 women meets once a week for periods of 8 weeks. Topics we discuss can involve family issues (spousal, children, in-law, abuse & infidelity); cultural issues (acculturation and adoption of American ways, relationships with non-Indians, cultural differences in the workplace); spirituality (compartmentalization of your practice versus openness to Americans--the effect, of your choice in disclosing, on your psychological wellbeing in America); any other topic the group wishes.

This intimate group is the first of 4 groups throughout the year to celebrate the spiritual and psychological significance of the changing of the seasons as marked by the Winter and Summer Solstice and the Spring and Autumn Equinox. For centuries, humans have recognized the way in which Nature's metaphors offer wisdom for life that can be applied and integrated. The lessons taking on fresh meaning as the years return us to these sacred moments of reflection and metamorphosis. Each event will comprise elements of meditation, art and collage work, journalling and sharing. Workshop fee includes refreshments and materials.

Come gather together in a safe & sacred space to allow your grief opportunity to heal and transform into life-serving energy. In this weekend ritual, you will: -Honor what you love and have lost- Express your grief through writing, movement, song, and connection with nature -Experience the healing power of sacred witnessing without trying to change, fix or solve the grief process - Release tension and stress to open to renewed sense of aliveness and purpose

Many of us have become tethered to our devices—reaching for them out of habit, boredom, or escape. What started as a helpful tool now chips away at our creativity, rest, and presence. I’m inviting a small, committed group to join me for a digital detox rooted in intention, accountability, and reconnection. Through daily practices, weekly prompts, and shared support, we’ll untangle from screen addiction and reclaim our time and attention. If you’re craving better sleep, more creativity, connection, or simply space to breathe, this is your invitation. Visit my website to learn more.

What should I expect from therapy that incorporates a focus on spirituality?
Spirituality can mean different things to different individuals, depending on their experiences, beliefs, and life histories. Some individuals focus on strengthening their belief system, while others experience spirituality in secular ways, such as through meditation, yoga, or by spending time in nature. Clients can expect a therapist to help guide and grow their spirituality through any of these techniques, encouraging the individual to cope with the challenges they face and develop strategies to build resilience and purpose to improve their outlook in life.

What are the most common treatments that include spirituality?
There are several treatments that incorporate spirituality. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) helps a person examine and reframe their negative thoughts and behaviors. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility. Existential therapy is most often used to address anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, apathy, despair, questions of identity, and feelings of purposelessness and existential dread. Transpersonal therapy focuses on a client’s spirituality and meaning in life and may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork.

Can therapy incorporating spirituality help atheistic or agnostic individuals?
Yes. For non-believers, spirituality can offer benefits including a greater sense of connection to others and to the natural world. An interest in spirituality may also spur individuals to pursue mindfulness practices, or to contemplate their purpose in life and how to achieve it.

How effective is spirituality as a therapeutic remedy?
Research suggests spirituality is generally beneficial for individuals. It is correlated with better health habits, such as less substance use, and an improved capacity to cope with stress and other mental health challenges. Increased spirituality can lead individuals to become more empathic and less materialistic, as well.
