Weekly intensive group therapy focused on living with sexual integrity. Each session is 50 minutes and is conducted via Zoom. Topics discussed include infidelity, porn/lust, risky sexual behaviors, and other unwanted behaviors. This is a safe space for men to take off their “mask,” practice honesty/vulnerability, develop an accountability network, and learn from others on the same journey. During the sessions, we share our struggles and successes. We develop solutions for difficult situations. We delve deeper into the underlying issues that hinder growth. We study books and selected readings to gain greater understanding.

Being a father is one of life's greatest joys, but the process of becoming a father is a big challenge for most men. It's hard to meet the needs of our partners, children, and jobs. Friendships that we relied on earlier in life are inaccessible, and support from our partners can disappear because of the new baby. Facing these challenges with courage and support allows us to grow into mature men capable of being fathers and leaders. This online group helps men at the beginning of fatherhood meet the challenges they face through peer and expert support.

There is a shortage of elders and mature men to guide our youth and support our adults in leaving behind their boy-psychology and embrace maturity. This group aims to introduce and deepen a notion that has been lost in contemporary society: the mature masculine as an available stage for men. Utilizing the work of Moore and Gillette in their seminal book, "King Warrior, Magician, Lover", and exploring character styles through the Enneagram of Personality character model, we intend to offer a safe container to allow members to experience, via psychoeducation and group process, their very journey toward Mature Masculinity.

Gay, bisexual, and queer men face distinct challenges in connecting emotionally with other men. Struggling with societal expectations, it is easy to fall into isolation or unfulfilling relationships. Processing the “here and now” interpersonal dynamics in group therapy, men may find a safe space to redefine their own ways of relating, enabling them to form genuine connections in which they feel celebrated for who they are. This is why I created this online group for gay, bisexual, pansexual, and queer-identified men who want to grow in their connection to themselves and others.

Many people questioning their gender identity feel that they may be an imposter, that somehow they may not qualify as non-binary or trans, frozen in this state for fear that they may come out as non-binary or trans only to later realize that they were somehow wrong. People tend to struggle in isolation (even when surrounded by accepting queer community). These experiences inspired me to create a space for folks in this stage of exploration to normalize this perfectly normal experience. If any of this resonates with you, I welcome you to join our group.

These groups meet each Wednesday evening at 515pm and 7pm, lasting for 90 minutes each. These are hybrid groups meaning they are in-person while a handful of times in the year meeting on zoom. The initial commitment is four months though many stay in groups for years. For those who learn by doing, you will get immense value and satisfaction from an Interpersonal Psychotherapy Process Group. You will learn about your relationship patterns and change the ones that don't work, all while offering both support and challenge, where members hold each other accountable.

"Tending the Fire Within:" A depth and intimacy-oriented group where we embrace and explore issues that men often find themselves struggling with. We share and learn to work with our anger, shame, loneliness, fear, grief and sense of power in order to create lives with more passion and connection. By supporting each other's experience, we dive more deeply into our own unique expression of masculinity and learn how we can feel more alive by holding our issues with compassion and heart.

Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.
How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.
What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
