I work with people struggling with anxiety, depression, burnout, relationship problems, chronic avoidance, workaholism, perfectionism, and problems related to substance use. Many people I support have experienced overwhelming events in their lives. In therapy, I support you by using evidence-based treatments (DBT, EMBR, CBT) alongside creative inquiry, spiritual exploration, mindfulness practices, and psychodynamic & depth psychotherapies to help you to identify unhelpful patterns and create new ways of living. You show up for you and I will provide anchored support, suggestions, encouragement, & feedback along the way.
This group is for teen girls (ages 13-16) who experience anxiety. Common themes include school anxiety, social pressure, and perfectionism. In this group, members can expect to receive support, realize they are not alone in their experiences, and gain some coping tools in learning to manage anxiety. The intention of this group is to help group members build confidence and self-love. It is our belief that as self-love grows, confidence in managing anxiety and stress will also increase. I invite you to a safe space where you can feel at ease to begin looking at where these difficulties began.

Cultivating emotional health, growing vibrantly in daily life requires a harmony of being emotionally, mentally and spiritually grounded as a human being. As lovely as it sounds, this is challenging, if not altogether a daunting process for most of us. Especially with increasing depression, anxiety, life stressors and many other barriers we struggle with. How do we begin? What can be said and how do we embark on creating a healthier relationship with our true authentic self. How do we learn to connect to others and the world to nurture wellbeing? These are the questions to search out and discover. So breathe...and let's begin!
This is an in-person weekly group to process life challenges, have self discovery, and to make connections with other neurodivergent people. Cost $35 weekly

Welcome! My name is Debbie, I founded Aspira Counseling to provide integrative services that require sensitivity, discretion, resourcefulness and creativity! During our mindfulness hikes, we incorporate the natural healing properties that nature has to offer and support members with putting mindfulness into practice. We guide others to slow down and take in their surroundings, engage their senses, and bring awareness to how they are feeling in the present moment. Our intention is to help others step away from the noise and chaos of their day to day lives to quiet their minds and think through things more clearly. We hope members feel more grounded and leave the hike finding peace within themselves, as well as some ways to incorporate these skills into everyday life.

There are times when you feel as though you have tried everything and it's difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Going through that tunnel alone can be extremely scary and anxiety provoking. Facing those challenges may be painful and going though all the different emotions are overwhelming. Therapy can be a safe space for individuals to learn how to identify, process and heal from their past. It can be difficult to heal from the past without the proper tools, therefore prioritizing the importance of individualizing this journey to your specific needs is one of the most important aspects of starting therapy.
Create Healthy Relationships, is a therapy group for women, focusing on self- focus/empowerment in relationships. In the safety of a secure environment, you will gain insight into yourself and how you function in relationships, starting with the relationship with yourself. As you share life experiences and bond with each other, your strengths and weaknesses gradually unfold in miniature. Though honest disclosure of your feelings and the willingness to receive feedback as to how others experience you, you will be able to explore and heal your co-dependency issues, empowering you to create the loving connections you've always wanted.

I believe many painful disorders such as depression and anxiety are rooted in unresolved relationship stress and disconnect. While this pain may have originated in a client's early childhood it is most definitely resurfacing in the client's present relationships.
With my expertise, clients will recognize distorted perceptions and unhealthy relationship patterns that are keeping them stuck. They will begin to own their part in the relationship dynamic which can be highly empowering. Also, learning more effective relationship skills with the important people in their lives will enable clients to begin to experience relief from their painful clinical conditions.

This group is for adult men. As men, we are often given the message that emotions and vulnerability make us weak. Much of the time we learn to create surface level relationships and struggle to communicate what we are actually feeling in an authentic way. In this group, you will be supported by other men with similar challenges. The intention of the group is to help members gain awareness of their own patterns that interfere with relationships and create a space to authentically connect with emotions and vulnerability. FAQs - About Group Therapy and Support Groups
How can I find a support group in Oxnard?
Search for nearby support groups by inputting your city, zip code, or the name of the group into the search bar. From there, you can filter to find a group that suits your needs, whether you are looking for support for a teenager, a group that focuses on a specific issue, such as depression, or a particular program type, such as one geared toward developing social skills. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.
How does group therapy work?
Therapy groups are led by one or more therapists and serve to help people process their experiences and learn from others who understand their challenges firsthand. They can be based on a specific issue, such as addiction, grief, physical illnesses, parenting, and caregiving. They can involve a specific type of program or therapy, such as a social skills group or CBT group. They can also be specific to a particular population or community, such as teens or LGBTQ.
Support groups, like Alcoholics Anonymous, also focus on a specific issue, but are typically led by members with lived experiences and are less structured than therapy groups. Most therapy groups will meet for a fixed length of time with a consistent group of members, while many support groups meet for an indefinite period of time with members coming and going.
What are the benefits of group therapy?
Support groups help connect people with shared challenges or physical and mental health conditions. In a group setting, participants can receive support and feedback from peers and can acquire new skills, strategies and perspectives by listening to one another. Discussing your experience with someone who also has a cancer diagnosis, or whose son also struggles with addiction, for example, can help you feel less alone, reduce distress, find empathy and connection, and learn practical or medical information that has helped others. Group therapy can also be a more affordable option than individual therapy and just as effective.
Is group therapy as effective as individual therapy?
Support groups can be deeply valuable for both emotional support and/or treatment outcomes. It’s difficult to make a blanket statement on efficacy due to the many different types of support groups and conditions treated, but group therapy has been found to be just as effective as individual therapy in establishing long-term abstinence for conditions such as substance abuse, addiction and alcohol abuse.
How much does group therapy cost?
Group counseling is typically less expensive than individual counseling, with each session costing on average between $60 to $75. Meanwhile, individual therapy sessions can run anywhere from $100 to $200 and up, even after insurance. It is possible to find low-cost group therapy options and many therapists offer group sessions free of charge.
Does insurance cover group therapy?
As with individual therapy, many insurance companies do offer coverage for group therapy sessions. However, the coverage varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider. Individuals are encouraged to check with their insurance providers to verify coverage.
How long does group therapy last?
The length of a support group session is often one hour but can fall anywhere between 45 minutes and two hours. The amount of time that people remain in a support group varies based on their specific needs and goals and the type of therapy. Some individuals may seek a shorter-term group, such as a bereavement group, that may last between six and 20 weeks. Some may seek a longer-term group that lasts for a year or indefinitely.
What are the limitations of support groups?
Support groups have many benefits, but there are a few limitations as well. Support groups do not constitute formal therapeutic or medical treatment, and are not run by licensed mental health professionals, so some people may opt for group therapy or individual therapy instead. Additionally, support groups can depend on the other participants, so a disruptive individual has the potential to mar the group dynamic, and the anecdotal information shared may sometimes be unhelpful or inaccurate. Because it is a group setting, confidentiality can be more difficult to guard and participants receive less personalized attention than they would in an individual therapy session.
